Nov 27, 2009 (Friday)
5:30PM
Approximately 2,000,000 lights transform Arabâs City Park into a magical Christmas wonderland. Arabâs Annual Christmas in the Park event always begins on the Friday after Thanksgiving Day. A lighting ceremony begins the festivities at 6:00 p.m., with live entertainment, featuring Christmas music, immediately following the lighting ceremony. Entertainment continues each Friday evening through the month December, up to the Friday before Christmas. Most of the entertainment is performed in the Historic Rice Church building adjacent to the Park. The lights are on each and every evening through December 31. For a truly inspiring Christmas experience, you wonât want to miss this event!
Special Christmas events and decorations are also planned for the Historic Complex, which is located adjacent to the park. Historic buildings, including a Church, School, General Store, and an operational gristmill, have been relocated to the site and restored to their original state. In addition, a museum is located in the complex. This museum is divided into sections with each depicting an historic building in Arab, such as Arabâs first hotel, barbershop, and drug store. A large collection of historic memorabilia is also on display in the museum.
